Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

What should I test before my Starlink installer leaves?

Test both the outdoor installation and the connection where you will actually use it. A single speed test beside the router is not a complete handover.

Ask the installer to demonstrate:

  • The system online in the Starlink app.
  • Any alignment or obstruction information that needs monitoring.
  • A secure mount and an appropriately supported cable route.
  • A neat, weather-protected building entry.
  • Wi-Fi at your main work and entertainment locations.
  • Wired connectivity if it formed part of the quote.

Try a normal activity such as a video call, rather than relying only on a headline speed. Record limitations or follow-up work in writing.

Keep the invoice, equipment details, photographs and workmanship warranty. Make sure you control the account and know the Wi-Fi credentials; do not leave the only working access with the installer.

Some behaviour becomes clearer over time, so agree how to report a recurring fault after handover. No short visit can prove that every future weather or network condition will be trouble-free.
