Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

Can I close a window or door over the Starlink cable?

Do not close a window or door tightly onto the cable. Crushing, repeated flexing and pressure on a connector can cause an intermittent fault even when the outer jacket initially looks intact.

For a temporary test, choose a route that cannot be trapped or accidentally pulled and keep it clear of walkways. Protect the equipment from rain and avoid leaving a building insecure merely to keep a cable connected.

For regular use, arrange a suitable building entry with proper sealing and strain relief. Check the connector size and manufacturer instructions before making a hole; an installer should check for concealed services and choose a method appropriate to the wall.

If a cable has already been pinched, disconnect power as directed for the kit before inspection. Do not keep bending it until the connection returns or hide visible damage with tape. Replace damaged parts with compatible equipment and test again before finishing the route.
