Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

Why can the other person hear me on a Starlink VoIP call, but I cannot hear them?

One-way audio can originate in the phone or computer, its selected audio device, or the network path used by the VoIP service. Start with the simple checks: speaker volume, headset connection, the selected output device and microphone permissions. Ask the other person to check their mute control too.

Try the provider's supported app or another handset, then make a call on a different internet connection if available. Note whether incoming and outgoing calls behave differently. A problem limited to one device points towards its setup; a repeatable difference between networks warrants provider-led network checks.

Give the VoIP provider the handset and router models, call time and test results. Follow settings specific to that service. Do not disable the firewall or copy generic port-forwarding instructions, particularly where carrier-grade NAT is involved.

If audio is choppy in both directions rather than completely absent in one, use our call-dropout guide to check Wi-Fi, obstructions and busy uploads.
