Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

Why have I been billed after cancelling Starlink or switching to Standby?

The invoice may cover a period before your change took effect, an ongoing Standby subscription, or additional usage charged afterwards. A cancellation request and an already-ended service line are different states.

Starlink says opted-in data top-ups and overages can appear on the following month's invoice. Its billing cut-off uses UTC: changes must be completed before 00:00 UTC on the billing date to affect that next cycle. Check the effective date shown in your account.

How do I check the charge?

Our suggested sequence is:

  1. Open the invoice and identify the service line, charge description and billing period.
  2. Compare these with the cancellation or Standby confirmation.
  3. Check for another active dish or subscription.
  4. Distinguish a monthly subscription from a data charge or other adjustment.
  5. If unexplained, send support the invoice number, confirmation and timestamps.

For UK customers, remember that midnight UTC is 1am during British Summer Time and midnight during GMT. Complete changes comfortably before the cut-off.

Do not assume that removing the app or unplugging the dish cancels service. Keep the confirmation until the final bill is settled.
