Answer
Why does my Starlink call break up when someone uploads a large file?
A busy upload can compete with a live call and increase queuing delay. This is a practical diagnosis to test, not proof that every breakup is caused by bandwidth contention.
Run the call with the large transfer paused, then repeat with it active using the same device and location. Check whether the change consistently follows the upload. Compare over Ethernet where possible and inspect app interruptions so Wi-Fi or obstructions are not overlooked.
If the pattern is repeatable, our first recommendation is to schedule optional cloud backups and large transfers outside important calls. If you use your own router, its supported traffic-management features may help, but configuration and capacity matter.
Do not promise that a generic QoS setting or faster plan will solve the problem. Save the before-and-after results, and involve workplace IT if managed software or business traffic is involved.
