Video calls reveal brief drops that ordinary browsing can hide. The key is to identify whether the interruption starts at the dish, local Wi-Fi or the device running the meeting.
Check the Starlink app after a drop
Look for obstruction, outage or hardware messages. Note the time of the call and whether the app records interruptions. This is more useful than a random speed test hours later.
Compare wired and Wi-Fi performance
Where appropriate, try a wired connection for a fixed desk or test from close to the router. If that is stable while the usual workspace is not, improve local Wi-Fi coverage first.
Reduce competing traffic
Pause large uploads, cloud backups and game downloads during important meetings. Re-test at the same time of day to see whether household activity is contributing.
Do not ignore the dish location
A recurring obstruction can disrupt real-time calls. Re-run the app’s sky assessment before investing in extra networking gear.
