Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

Why does a new Starlink VLAN have Wi-Fi but no internet?

Joining the Wi-Fi name confirms only that the wireless connection works. The device still needs a valid address, a gateway, DNS and a permitted route to the internet.

Compare a device on the new network with one on the established working network. Check whether the new device receives an address from the intended subnet. If it does not, inspect the VLAN assignment, DHCP service and every switch link between the access point and gateway.

If addressing is correct, test access to the gateway and then the internet. Review firewall rules and DNS separately; do not remove all restrictions simply to make a page load.

Keep the existing network available while fixing the new one. Change one setting at a time and record the result. If the original network remains healthy, resetting Starlink is unlikely to solve a missing VLAN tag or a gateway rule.
