Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

How do I estimate whether one Starlink connection can support an event?

Start with simultaneous activity, not the number of devices a router can register. Fifty phones receiving occasional messages create a different workload from ten laptops uploading video.

List essential services first: payments, registration, staff communications and any live stream. Estimate their concurrent download and upload needs using the application providers' guidance, then leave headroom for variation and other traffic.

Test at the actual venue and representative times. Check the dish's sky view, Wi-Fi coverage and power arrangement as separate parts of the system. A strong internet connection does not guarantee coverage across a large hall or outdoor site.

Decide whether guest Wi-Fi can be restricted or omitted if essential tasks need the capacity. Confirm plan permission for the use and location, and arrange a fallback for critical transactions. Avoid making a capacity promise from one peak speed test or a product's maximum connected-device figure.
