Answer
How should I plan the Starlink cable route into my home?
Plan the whole route before choosing a permanent dish position or drilling. The cable must reach the intended indoor equipment without being crushed, strained or left vulnerable to weather and everyday activity.
Walk the proposed route and identify:
- Doors, windows and sharp edges.
- Gutters, moving parts and places where water collects.
- Locations needing cable support or protection.
- A suitable building entry.
- Enough space for the actual connector, not just the cable.
- Future access if a cable needs replacing.
Use the cable and accessories approved for your kit. Do not assume that a connector resembling Ethernet makes every cable or extension compatible.
Check for concealed services before drilling and use a competent installer where the route or structure is uncertain. Starlink's cable-routing guide stresses correct drilling and sealing to prevent damage and water ingress; its detailed instructions are specific to the hardware shown.
Avoid closing an ordinary window on the cable as a permanent solution. A neat route should also remain serviceable.
