Answer
Why is Starlink limited to about 100 Mbps over Ethernet?
A wired result close to 100 Mbps can indicate a 100 Mbps Ethernet link somewhere in the path, although it is not proof on its own. The service plan or wider connection may also limit performance.
Check the negotiated link speed on the computer and the specifications of the switch, dock or adapter. Our comparison is to connect through the shortest supported LAN path with a known-working cable, then reintroduce intermediate equipment one item at a time.
An old switch or faulty cable can become the bottleneck even if the rest of the network supports gigabit Ethernet. Compare with Starlink's router-to-internet test where available.
Do not force an unsupported speed or duplex setting as a shortcut. Identify and replace the limiting component only after testing. A faster Ethernet link also does not guarantee that the internet subscription will deliver that same rate.
