Answer
Can a USB-C dock make Starlink Ethernet appear unreliable?
Yes. The dock, its Ethernet adapter, its power supply or the laptop's settings can interrupt a wired connection independently of Starlink.
Compare the same task on Wi-Fi, then test with another compatible Ethernet adapter or the laptop's built-in port if it has one. Keep the Ethernet cable and router port unchanged for that comparison. Test another device on the same cable as a further check.
Note whether the drop happens when the laptop sleeps, wakes, charges or connects an additional accessory. Check the dock manufacturer's supported power arrangement, firmware and operating-system drivers.
If only the dock connection fails, focus there before changing Starlink. If Wi-Fi and other wired devices fail simultaneously, widen the investigation to the router, power and service. Record what changes with each test so that replacing a dock is based on evidence rather than the timing of one failed speed test.
