Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

Why can I still see an unknown device after changing my Wi-Fi password?

An unfamiliar entry is not proof that someone has defeated the new password. It may represent one of your own devices under a different name, an old entry, a wired client or equipment using another network.

First confirm which router supplies Wi-Fi and that you changed the password there. Check guest networks and any separate access points as well as the main network.

Make a simple inventory of household devices. Disconnect one known device at a time and watch which entry disappears or changes state. Include TVs, printers, hubs and wired devices behind switches. Compare current connection activity rather than relying only on an unfamiliar manufacturer label.

If you still cannot identify the client, record its network, time and displayed details, then use the router's supported blocking or access controls carefully. Keep your own administrator device connected and avoid a blind factory reset, which can destroy useful configuration without explaining the entry.
