Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

Should I schedule Starlink to reboot every night?

A nightly reboot is not a good default remedy for an unexplained fault. It creates deliberate downtime and can hide the pattern you need to diagnose the underlying problem.

If the connection repeatedly fails, record the time, affected devices and app events. Check whether the router loses power, the satellite link drops or only one device stops working. Inspect accessible cable and ventilation issues before creating a schedule.

A planned restart may be useful for a specific, understood maintenance reason, but choose a quiet period and confirm that the equipment returns normally. Keep cameras, alarms, remote access and overnight tasks in mind.

Do not use rapid repeated power cycling: reset behaviour differs by hardware. If power saving is your goal, investigate the supported sleep feature and its limitations separately. A recurring fault deserves a cause and a recovery plan, not an ever-increasing number of restarts.
