Answer
Do I need a Starlink Ethernet adapter to connect a computer or games console?
It depends on your Starlink hardware. Do not buy an adapter until you have identified the router or kit:
- Standard kit with Router 3: Router 3 has two built-in Ethernet LAN ports beneath its removable cover.
- Starlink Mini: the Mini has one Ethernet LAN port. Follow its cable and sealing requirements for outdoor use.
- Standard Actuated with the Gen 2 router: a wired connection uses the compatible Starlink Ethernet adapter.
Those examples do not cover every Starlink product or a setup that has already been modified. Match any accessory to the hardware listed in your account and the relevant official guide.
For a normal wired computer or console, connect through the appropriate LAN connection and test with the device's Wi-Fi temporarily disconnected so you know which path is carrying traffic. Bypass mode is not needed merely to connect an ordinary end device by Ethernet.
A cable can avoid a weak local Wi-Fi link, but it cannot cure a satellite outage or dish obstruction. If a wired result disappoints, first compare another known-working cable or device and check that the equipment supports the required connection speed.
