Questions & answers

Clear, practical answers to the things people want to know before and after choosing Starlink.

Answer

How should I clean Starlink, and can I use rain-repellent spray or paint?

Starlink's cleaning guidance allows gentle cleaning with a microfiber cloth and suitable glass cleaner. It advises against painting the radome, covering it with material or applying aftermarket water-repellent treatments such as RainX or NeverWet.

Our practical approach is to clean only when there is a reason, such as visible contamination, and to use safe access and the guidance for the actual model. Do not open the housing, use abrasive tools or improvise a coating intended for another satellite dish.

Keep connectors and electrical parts protected while working. If the surface is cracked or a cable is damaged, cleaning is not the repair.

If appearance is the concern, discuss a less conspicuous approved mounting position instead of painting the terminal. A fabric cover left over the dish during use can also affect performance; protective transport packaging should be removed before operation.
