Answer
Can I rely on Starlink for remote work while travelling?
Starlink can be useful for travel work, but reliability depends on the permitted plan, location, power, local network and the tools your work requires. Test the complete workflow before promising availability to a client or employer.
Prepare:
- A plan that permits the intended use and destinations.
- A clear, safe dish location.
- Enough power for the expected work session.
- Tested meeting, VPN and cloud applications.
- Offline copies of essential files where authorised.
- A separate connection or contingency for a missed session.
A good download test does not demonstrate a stable hour-long meeting or a working company VPN. Test those tasks directly.
Check with Starlink if the distinction between personal travel use and your business use is unclear; personal-plan permissions should not be assumed suitable for every commercial activity.
Our recommendation is to choose pitches around practical connectivity when an important deadline is involved, and keep a realistic fallback rather than relying on a single connection.
