Answer
What should I check before buying a used Starlink dish?
Check that the seller can release the hardware for transfer and that you can activate it for your location. Possession of a dish and its Wi-Fi password does not establish ownership in Starlink's system.
Ask for the exact kit model, the included components and evidence that the seller's transfer option is available. Starlink applies transfer eligibility conditions, including account and timing requirements. Confirm these in the seller's account before paying; do not rely on an old online waiting-period claim.
Inspect the cable ends, dish housing, power supply and mounts. Compare the complete price with a new kit after allowing for replacements. Agree how activation problems will be handled, and use your own account when activating the released kit. Never take over the seller's password or send them your verification code. Keep the purchase receipt and hardware details privately.
