The real-world result
Before Starlink, my BT fibre-to-the-cabinet service produced about 22 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. The final connection into my property still depended on the existing local infrastructure, so changing provider was unlikely to change that limitation.
I chose Residential Max because I wanted the best available home performance and priority for a busy connection. My decision was personal: it reflected my location, poor previous service and need for a reliable high-capacity connection—not a claim that the same plan is right for everyone.
What I learned
The recorded Starlink result of 359 Mbps down, 43 Mbps up and 19 ms latency has made a significant difference to everyday use. Several devices, streaming, work and large downloads are no longer constrained by the old connection in the same way.
What I would do before copying this approach
Choose a plan from the options currently displayed for your address. Compare the monthly cost, speed policy, installation option and the actual number of people and devices in your household.
My practical advice
Separate the improvement from changing the connection itself from the choice of subscription tier. My experience shows that Starlink suited my property much better than my old connection; it does not prove that every household needs Max.
Write down what your existing broadband struggles with, how many people use it at once and whether uploads, calls or downloads are the main problem. Use those needs to compare the available options and total cost.
