Starlink Installation Quote Checklist: What Should Be Included?

A clear written quote helps you compare Starlink installers fairly and avoids surprises on installation day. Two prices may look similar while covering very different mounts, cable protection, access equipment and finishing work.
The quote should describe the result you are buying, not simply say “install Starlink”.
Property and location details
The quote should identify the property and the proposed dish location. Ask the installer to record whether the position is on a roof, wall, pole or ground mount and whether that location has been checked with the Starlink obstruction tool.
It should also note any assumptions about access, wall or roof construction, working height, parking and the condition of the proposed fixing surface. If those assumptions prove wrong, you can then see why the scope or price may need to change.
Mounting equipment and fixings
Confirm exactly what is included:
- The mount, bracket, pole or base
- Adaptors needed to connect the Starlink equipment to the mount
- External-grade fixings appropriate to the surface
- Any stand-off needed to clear gutters, eaves or roof edges
- Corrosion-resistant materials for exposed locations
- Labour for assembly, alignment and final tightening
A quote should not rely on vague phrases such as “standard bracket” where the building requires a particular solution. Ask whether the mount remains the installer’s responsibility or carries a separate manufacturer warranty.
Access and safety
The quote should state how the installer expects to reach the work area. Ladders, scaffolding, towers, roof-access systems or specialist lifting equipment can significantly affect cost.
Ask whether the quoted price includes the necessary access equipment and what happens if the planned method proves unsafe on the day. A reputable installer should stop and revise the plan rather than improvise unsafe access.
Cable route and protection
The cable route should be described from the dish to the router. The quote should cover:
- Approximate route and entry point
- External clips, conduit or protective covering
- Weatherproofing and a suitable drip loop
- Protection from sharp edges, doors and foot traffic
- Internal cable routing and final router location
- Making good around the entry point
- Any extra networking or Ethernet work
Clarify whether decorative trunking, drilling through unusually thick walls or lifting floors is included. If the route changes, agree the cost before extra work begins.
Router, Wi-Fi and networking
Basic Starlink installation does not automatically guarantee whole-building Wi-Fi coverage. The quote should distinguish the outdoor connection from optional internal networking.
If you need mesh units, wired access points, Ethernet switches or coverage in an outbuilding, ask for these as separate line items. This makes it easier to judge whether each addition is necessary and fairly priced.
Testing and handover
A good quote includes a clear handover. It should cover checking that the system is online, reviewing the app, testing a normal device and showing you the cable route and equipment.
Ask whether you will receive photographs, basic instructions and a record of any known obstruction or Wi-Fi limitation. Confirm whether a return visit is included if a workmanship issue appears shortly after installation.
Price, payment and exclusions
The written total should make clear whether tax, travel, materials and access costs are included. Check the deposit, payment timing and how variations will be approved.
Common exclusions might include electrical work, repairs to defective roofs or walls, concealed damage, extensive internal decoration and work by another trade. Exclusions are not necessarily a problem when they are clear before you appoint the installer.
Warranty and responsibility
Ask what workmanship guarantee is provided and how to report a problem. Separate that from Starlink’s own hardware or service support.
The quote should also explain responsibility if the chosen location later proves obstructed despite the agreed checks, or if customer-requested changes affect performance.

Before accepting, confirm that every quote covers the same essentials:
- Location and obstruction assessment
- Mount and all fixings
- Access equipment
- Complete cable route and protection
- Weatherproof building entry
- Router position
- Testing and handover
- Making good and waste removal
- Warranty, price and payment terms
- Clear exclusions and variation process
