Plan an accessible campervan network cabinet
Campervans, Motorhomes & RVs
Plan a campervan network cabinet for service access as well as neatness. A tidy photograph is not enough if you cannot reach a connector, identify a supply or remove a failed device without dismantling furniture.
Inventory the equipment
List the Starlink power components, router, cellular backup, switch and any converters. Record dimensions, connector positions, approved mounting orientation and environmental limits from each manual. Include the space needed to remove a plug, not just the box's footprint.
Keep a separate power plan for a competent vehicle electrical installer. This guide does not provide fuse sizing, cable sizing or a DIY battery-wiring diagram. Use approved supplies and do not treat a domestic power strip as a complete vehicle installation.
Draw the service layout
Mark ventilation space, cable bend allowances, inspection access and equipment labels. Keep the layout away from water leaks, stored wet gear, heat sources and items that could block vents. Confirm that doors and stored luggage cannot press on connectors.
Mount and restrain equipment using methods approved for the equipment and vehicle installation. Provide strain relief without pinching cables. Route data and power according to the installer's design; avoid making hidden joints that cannot be inspected later.
Make troubleshooting possible
Label each end of every lead with its function. Keep the router's management instructions, equipment models and a simple connection sketch in a private maintenance record. Store account recovery information securely rather than on a publicly visible cabinet label.
Provide a safe, documented way to isolate the system. Make sure another user can identify the backup equipment and explain a fault to the maintainer without opening electrical components.
Test the finished installation
Check internet, backup switching and the intended devices with the cabinet closed in its normal condition. Have the installer assess heat and power behaviour under realistic use. Recheck restraints and cable condition as part of vehicle maintenance and after modifications.
