Make a printable internet-down help sheet
Tips & Tricks
An internet-down sheet should help someone take a few safe steps without remembering your whole network. Make it while everything works, test it with the person who will use it, and keep it beside the router.
Copy this private worksheet and print it
Use your browser's Print command, choose the pages containing this worksheet and increase the print scale if needed. Fill in the blanks by hand. Keep the completed sheet private; do not post a photograph containing account details or Wi-Fi credentials.

STEP 1: Check whether another device also has the problem. If one device fails but others work, tell the helper which device it is.
STEP 2: Look at the router without opening anything. Record the lights and any app message. Do not touch wet or damaged equipment.
STEP 3: Follow only the restart instructions written above by the person who maintains this installation. Do not press Reset or repeatedly switch power on and off.
STEP 4: If it still does not work, call the named helper or use the tested backup instructions. Record when the problem started.
HELPER NOTES / WHAT CHANGED: ____
Personalise and rehearse
Have your helper write the restart method from the exact model's current manual. Add a photograph of your own equipment if that makes identification easier. Use large text and simple labels that match the physical installation.
Try the sheet during a planned test without disrupting essential work. Correct any confusing step and write the new test date. Update it after equipment or contact details change.
This sheet is not an emergency communications guarantee. Keep an independent way to contact help appropriate to your circumstances.
