How to Give Someone Access to Your Starlink Account Safely
Tips & Tricks
Research checked 1 November 2026. This is a guide to authorised account access, not a way to transfer ownership or bypass verification.
Decide what access is needed
A household helper might need to raise a support ticket. A business colleague might need billing visibility. Write down the task before granting access, rather than starting with the broadest permission.
Adding Wi-Fi access and adding an account contact are different actions. A visitor who only needs internet should not automatically receive account access.
Add a contact through the official account
Starlink's instructions say to sign in, open Settings, choose Add User, supply the contact details and save. Its published maximum is three contacts including the owner for Residential accounts; other account types have different limits.
Use the options shown in the signed-in account. If a control is absent, check your authority and ask the account administrator or Starlink.
Review permissions deliberately
Official role documentation distinguishes administration, billing, technical and support capabilities, with further subdivisions and read-only choices where available. Do not assume every role is offered identically on every account.
Grant only what the person needs. Before confirming, read whether a permission allows purchases, service-plan changes or user management. A request to troubleshoot a connection is not automatically a reason to grant purchasing authority.
Verify without sharing secrets
Ask the person to use their own authorised access. Do not send your password, a one-time code or a screenshot containing account credentials.
Check together that the intended task works. For sensitive actions, inspect the account's actual controls rather than assuming a role name describes every consequence.
Record who has access and why. Review that list when a job ends or household arrangements change. Remove access that is no longer required using the official controls, while retaining a working administrator.
Ownership is a separate process
If the kit is being sold or the contractual owner needs changing, follow Starlink's transfer process. Adding a helper does not itself settle ownership, outstanding charges or transfer eligibility.
