Residential and Roam plans solve different problems. The important question is not which is ‘best’ in general, but where and how consistently you expect to use the connection.
UK and US monthly prices
Prices checked: 23 September 2026. These are the advertised monthly service prices on Starlink's regional pages, not currency conversions or an address-specific quote.
United Kingdom — GBP
- Residential 100 Mbps: £40 per month.
- Residential 200 Mbps: £60 per month.
- Residential Max: £80 per month.
- Roam 100GB: £55 per month.
- Roam Unlimited: £100 per month.

The UK page did not list a Roam 300GB option when checked. Hardware, delivery, installation, taxes and promotional terms should be checked separately in the regional checkout. Residential 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps are available only in selected areas. These prices are for public standalone plans; Ian's discounted Mini Travel Add-On is a separate account-specific offer.

Choose Residential for a fixed address
If your dish will stay at home, start by checking the Residential option for that service address. Plan a clear, safe installation and ensure your household Wi-Fi coverage is good where it matters.
Choose Roam for genuine mobility
Roam can suit travel, temporary locations and people who need a connection away from a single fixed home. Before relying on it for a trip, check the current regional service terms, coverage and any usage limits that apply.
Compare the whole workflow
Consider setup effort, power, packing, mounting, pauses or changes, and the effect on your home connection when the equipment is away. A portable plan is not automatically the best substitute for a stable home installation.

Hardware and installation offers checked on 1 October 2026
The UK Residential page advertises no upfront hardware cost in selected areas. The UK Roam page advertises hardware starting from £179 in selected areas. These are conditional advertised offers, not a universal kit price or proof of ownership. Confirm rental or purchase terms, delivery, taxes and installation for your address.
With United States selected, the US Residential page advertises no upfront hardware cost in selected areas and free professional home installation with Residential 200 Mbps and Residential Max. Confirm eligibility, included work and any extra charges in your address-specific quote. A standalone US Roam hardware price and a current UK professional-installation price were not verified in this check; no new figure is asserted for either.
